My Communication Style & Personality Traits
So via a couple of online personality quizzes that I recently took, I thought it would be fun to share the results. Admittedly they do hit my personality and communication style on the head. The Myers-Briggs 16 Personalities is something that I’ve been seeing frequently on social media for the last couple of years and only recently figured out what the acronyms stand for.
My Communication Style 🗣️
Ted’s style is Tracker-Facilitator. That means that most of the time he speaks and listens like a Tracker, but some of the time he uses a backup style of Facilitator.
Ted’s primary communication style Tracker is inquisitive. He has a natural ability to ask penetrating questions. His intuitive and careful communication style is thoughtful and discriminating. He tracks down all the details before speaking because he wants to be accurate. His speech and body language may seem unemotional, but he desires deeper relationships with a handful of colleagues.
However, because he has a gentle and caring side, sometimes he feels more comfortable switching to a Facilitator communication style. This style is gentle and gracious. When he switches to this style, he is more soft-spoken, listens more carefully, and invites others to talk and share.
My Core Convictions 🤗
Ted’s core convictions are Compassion-Belief. His Compassion conviction means he has a profound need to help others and invest time and energy in their well-being. He is others-centered and doesn’t need the spotlight.
His Belief conviction means he values integrity, fairness, and moral excellence. He desires to be a person of character, known for honesty and hard work.
Together Compassion-Belief works to shape his attitudes toward fairness, success and self-sufficiency.
My Personality Traits ☺️
Via this online test, I am considered an INTP. The INTP type describes a person who is energized by time alone (Introverted), who focuses on ideas and concepts rather than facts and details (iNtuitive), who makes decisions based on logic and reason (Thinking) and who prefers to be spontaneous and flexible rather than planned and organized (Perceiving).
INTPs are sometimes referred to as Architect personalities because of their intuitive understanding of complex systems. Other nicknames for the INTP include:
INTPs are philosophical innovators, fascinated by logical analysis, systems, and design. They are preoccupied with theory and search for the universal law behind everything they see. They want to understand the unifying themes of life, in all their complexity.
INTPs are detached, analytical observers who can seem oblivious to the world around them because they are so deeply absorbed in thought. They spend much of their time in their own heads: exploring concepts, making connections, and seeking an understanding of how things work. To the Architect, life is an ongoing inquiry into the mysteries of the universe.
INTP Strengths 💪
Analytical brilliance: Beneath the quiet surface sits an intellectual prowess that INTPs bring to any environment in which they find themselves. They are fast thinkers and highly logical. Others may not know it since much happens inside the INTP’s own head, yet this type excels in analyzing connections between seemingly random pieces of information and finding flawless explanations to problems that disorient most other personality types.
Objective: INTPs are respected for their relentless pursuit of truth, objectivity and understanding. They make this the goal of their lives and channel their energy into rooting out errors and eliminating inconsistencies. They do this not only for personal enjoyment but because they see it as their main contribution to the world in whatever field they find themselves in.
Imaginative: INTPs think deeply about theory, how to understand and explain difficult concepts, and how systems and products function and might be improved. They naturally see things others don’t because they have imaginations that are actively focused and fixated on future potential and possibility.
Enthusiastic: To others, the INTP may come across as private and withdrawn but when a topic piques their interest, INTPs can be very enthusiastic—excited even—about discussing it. This excitement makes them fun to be around. In the right company, INTPs are keen to express their imaginative sense of humor and enjoy being playful with people whom they can trust.
